Among the alleys of Scicli, when silence blends with stone and light seems to dance upon the Baroque facades, a lightness is felt that does not belong to the air; it is perceived with every breath. It is there that the “Piuma” is born. It is said that once, during the quietest nights, a white feather would appear in the ancient center of Scicli; it was found at dawn, resting on church steps, on balcony railings, or in the uphill alleys. A single feather, pure white, perfect, motionless even in the wind. It was said to be the sign left by a gentle spirit, a luminous figure that appeared only to those who had lost their way. Whoever found that feather would receive a vision, an intuition to be realized with courage. One day, a young goldsmith, restless and in search of his own destiny, found it on the threshold of his workshop. He picked it up, and in that moment, he looked at it not with his eyes, but with his soul. He saw the form he would give to freedom. In that feather, he saw a piece of jewelry. From that moment on, the feather was seen no more, but its spirit lives on today in the second jewel of the ALMA collection.
